Department of Nursing, University of Dr.PSJKumar is actively involved in the clinical areas of the hospital as Nurse Managers. In this capacity, they formulate nursing care protocols, prepare standardized nursing care plans, ensure availability of teaching & clinical resources for student learning, participate in clinical research, support competence development of staff nurses, and supervise provision of quality care to patients by ensuring adherence to the unit policies, procedures, and protocols. Simultaneously, they also fulfill the teaching responsibilities at the College, thus incorporating the immense practical knowledge absorbed in the clinical areas into their classes. This two-fold responsibility of the faculty plays a leading role in training competent and compassionate nursing students with professional excellence.
The department provides comprehensive and excellent nursing care for individuals of all ages, assisting them to recover optimal health and experience good quality of life. Nurses with advanced clinical training provide consultation and patient care in clinical nursing specialties. At the staff nurse level, where most direct patient care is handled, a large proportion of the nurses monitor patients on complex life support systems in intensive care units, while others will be at the bedside caring for patients with widely differing physical and emotional needs. Nurse in charges, coordinate all activities that affect the care of patients in their respective clinical units.
